May 2015

Next month it will be five years (FIVE YEARS) since this website officially launched.

Loading

That means that this month I'm having to redo my webhosting. There shouldn't be any interruptions, but I've never done it before so fair warning.

You know it's only now that I've finished making this animation that I realise how potentially confusing it is. No. nothing else will be loading. The above is supposed to be an artistic representation of my hope that you can see this page in the first place.

Curves are Hard

So it's been about a month since I started working on my wing-feather pattern. I got the basic idea down almost right away but have spent an excessive amount of time since trying to perfect the design. You see feathers are beautifully economical designs that are all flat elegant curves. Curves are hard. I've tried drawing it out and adjusting as I go. Here's a picture of my rejects pile...

Rejects

I've not been slacking!

Today I put up a first version of the pattern. Maybe when I've gotten some distance from it I'll be able to try again. But just now I'm off to knit something with straight edges for a while.

Celebrations

So what should I do to celebrate next month. I've come up with all sorts of ideas from "buy myself cake" to "!!PATTERN MARATHON!!". Maybe I'll combine ideas and post multiple patterns for cake.
