Design Knitting With Maths
WAIT DON'T GO!!!
As a knitter you are probably already using a lot more maths that you realise. This section contains some notes showing how maths can be used to help design original patterns from scratch.
Tension
Before you can design a knitting pattern with maths you need to know the average size of each stitch. This section takes you through how to calculate it by knitting a tension patch.
2D Shapes
In this section we look at how to create flat knitting exactly the size and shape you want, in whatever stitch you choose.
3D Shapes
Building on the 2D Shapes section we look at modelling 3D shapes both as nets and complete knitted objects.
Colour
Maths can help design patterns of colour as well as shape your knitting. In this section we look at some fun effects and patterns.
Or go straight to Free Patterns and avoid the maths completely!
