Tall and Pointy Egg Cosy (R2)
This egg cosy consists of a stocking-stitch cone and an i-cord decoration. The i-cord is only attached at the ends so you can have hours of fun arranging the loops.
A printable version of this pattern is available.
You will need:
- double knit yarn in black and white
- 4 x double ended knitting needles (3.25mm)
- tapestry needle
- scissors
Pattern:
Cast on 36 stitches in black, join into the round.
(A list of abbreviations is available.)
- Round 1: p –
- Round 2: k –
- Round 3: p –
- Rounds 4 to 14: k –
- Rounds 15 to 44: k2tog, k –
Thread yarn through remaining 6 sts and pull tight.
To make the loop decoration, cast on 5sts in white and i-cord for around 30cm. Thread yarn through remaining sts and pull tight.
Making Up:
Sew one end of the i-cord to the bottom edge of the egg cosy. Wrap the i-cord around the knitting in a loose spiral and sew the other end to the peak of the cone.
Sew in any remaining loose ends.
Notes:
Decrease Rows
In the above pattern the decrease rows are all shown to be the same (k2tog, k –). This is a bit of a cheat because it's not how the cosy in the photo was knitted.
For a more even finish the k2tog decrease was done at a different place in every round.
