Flat Topped Egg Cosy (R3)
This flat topped egg cosy can be turned upside down for use as an emergency eggcup – just make sure you knit it out of something washable!

You will need:
- double knit yarn in black and white
- 4 x double ended knitting needles (3.25mm)
- tapestry needle
- scissors
Pattern:
Cast on 36 stitches in black, join into the round.
(A list of abbreviations is available.)
- Round 1: p –
- Rounds 2 to 4: [k3 in black, k3 in white] x 6
- Rounds 5 to 7:[k3 in black, k3 in white] x 6
- Rounds 8 to 10: as rounds 2 to 4
The following section is worked in black and it forms the underside of the flat top.
- Round 11 and odd rows this section: k –
- Round 12: [kfb, k8] x 4 (40)
- Round 14: [kfb, k4] x 8 (4)
- Round 16: [kfb, k5] x 8 (40)
- Round 18: [kfb, k6] x 8 (40)
Change to white for the next two rounds.
- Round 20: k –
- Round 21: p –
Change back to black for the top of the cosy.
- Round 22 and even rows this section: k –
- Round 23: [k2tog, k6] x 8 (56)
- Round 25: [k2tog, k5] x 8 (48)
- Round 27: [k2tog, k4] x 8 (40)
- Round 29: [k2tog, k3] x 8 (32)
- Round 31: [k2tog, k2] x 8 (24)
- Round 33: [k2tog, k1] x 8 (16)
- Round 35: [k2tog] x 8 (8)
Thread yarn through remaining sts and pull tight.
Making Up:
Sew in any remaining loose ends.
