November 2013
It is officially the month of Who and my preparations are well under way.
The 50th anniversary of Doctor Who is happening on the 23rd of November and I'm mildly excited about it, as you can probably tell. I decided I wanted to knit a proper Doctor Who Scarf, like the one Tom Baker famously wore in the original series. It turned out not to be that simple. According to doctorwhoscarf.com I have to decide if I want to make an original scarf, the stunt duplicate, the alternative introduced in season 15, the compound scarf used in seasons 16 and 17, the adapted compound scarf used for the unaired story arc “Shada” or the newer design used for the rest of Tom Baker's episodes.
I love it when people get serious about their knitwear.

Classy Christmas Fair Isle
Every year I get horribly jealous of people with good Christmas jumpers. The sort with a mass of fair isle star and snowflake patterns. Every year I say that I'm going to make myself one with rows of side kicking elves and random moose*. I never find the time. This year I didn't find the time again. But I have consoled myself by making a fair isle bow tie. Maybe this is the start of a complete fair isle outfit for next year.
* I'm beginning to suspect that most of the seasonal moose I see are actually supposed to be reindeer, and therefore not as random as all that.
It's not really a new bow tie pattern, just an adjustment to the stocking stitch version. I've written it up as part of that pattern.

Lots
All four bow tie patterns are now updated. Surely, you say, that is a sufficiency of bow tie patterns – but no! The fair isle bow tie pattern is still to come.

Happy Day of the Doctor!
Do you know what's better than one bow tie? Lots of bow ties!
It's possible I got a bit carried away, but this is not a day to stint on the fancy dress (and I can always use them as Christmas presents). It's nearly time to take the TARDIS biscuits out the oven and gather in front of the telly. Happy Anniversary Doctor Who, here's to another 50 years!

Ta Daaa
One bow tie pattern is now available. I haven't included instructions on how to make it wearable because I don't want to deprive everyone of having their own fun with elastic.

On the same theme...
I've made a bow tie, because (all together now) bow ties are cool.
