Knitted Tinsel (F1)
![knitted tinsel](ts/tsphoto.jpg)
Soft and fuzzy rather than sparkly and scratchy this pattern is actually for a single fringe of cast on/off stitches. Multiple fringes are sewn together, back to back, to make a length of knitted tinsel.
A printable version of this pattern is available.
You will need:
- yarn leftovers (double knit)
- knitting needles (3mm)
- tapestry needle
- scissors
Pattern:
Cast on 8 sts.
- Cast off 7 sts.
- Return the single remaining stitch to the left hand needle.
- Cast on 7 sts.
Repeat the bullet points until you have made a fringe of the desired length. Cast off all 8 stitches.
Making Up:
Working through the pattern once gives you skinny, asymmetrical tinsel.

Two fringes of equal length can be sewn together, back to back along the solid edge. This gives delicate symmetrical tinsel.

For fuller, fluffy tinsel use four knitted fringes sewn into two sets of two and then tacked together along the spine.

Notes:
Needle/Yarn Size
As with most ODDknit patterns the yarn and needle sizes in the "you will need" section are just a guide. Feel free to improvise with whatever needles and yarn you have lying around - that's half the fun!
