Pot Plant (R2)

Plant:

I wanted the leaves to be random lengths within a set range so I used a ten sided die to generate some numbers. You can follow the pattern as is, or design your own by working each odd row as k5, cast-on rolled number, and each even row as cast-off rolled number, p5.

To begin, cast on 5 stitches in green.

  1. Row 1: k5, cast on 6.
  2. Row 2: cast off 6, p –
  3. Row 3: k5, cast on 2.
  4. Row 4: cast off 2, p –
  5. Row 5: k5, cast on 10.
  6. Row 6: cast off 10, p –
  7. Row 7: k5, cast on 3.
  8. Row 8: cast off 3, p –
  9. Row 9: k5, cast on 1.
  10. Row 10: cast off 1, p –
  11. Row 11: k5, cast on 7.
  12. Row 12: cast off 7, p –
  13. Row 13: k5, cast on 5.
  14. Row 14: cast off 5, p –
  15. Row 15: k5, cast on 9.
  16. Row 16: cast off 9, p –
  17. Row 17: k5, cast on 8.

  31. Row 31: k5, cast on 6.
  32. Row 32: cast off 6, p –

Cast off remaining stitches.

Making Up:

Wrap the green leaves around the arm of the loop such that the flat edge of the leaves is flush with the end of the arm. Sew tightly into place with some stitches back and forth through the entire thickness of fabric.

Slip the knitted pot over the flat end of the leaves. Fix into place with a couple of stitches through the base of the pot.

Sew in any remaining loose ends.

Notes:

Needle/Yarn Size

As with most ODDknit patterns the yarn and needle sizes in the "you will need" section are just a guide. Feel free to improvise with whatever needles and yarn you have lying around - that's half the fun!
